Sunday Worship Services
We have all attended family reunions. Some, quite honestly, are the type where you'd sooner be experiencing a root canal than hearing Aunt Polly spout, "My! Look how you've grown!" When the body of Christ at First Assembly gathers on Sunday, we believe it is like a family reunion, but this is the kind you want to attend! Sunday School begins at 9:30 a.m.; Worship Service and children’s church begin at 10:30 a.m.
Sunday morning worship is an uplifting, inspirational time, featuring worship, special music, fellowship, drama, prayer for needs, and a teaching from God's Word. Currently, while we are seeking a new pastor, we are having guest speakers each Sunday morning.
Sunday School
Every Sunday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., adults gather in the Fellowship Hall for a time of coffee, prayer, fellowship and teaching on a topic related to the Christian life. Lately this study has included video segments and discussion of the material in a highly participatory setting.
Square One Men's Group, for young men ages 18 to 35ish, meets from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. in the Conference Room. Morris Taylor is presently the group facilitator.
During this time, children are also provided structured
Bible lessons and crafts until Children's Church convenes.
Come and join us for this special time together on Sunday morning.
Children’s Church
One of the highlights of the week for many children, is coming to
Children’s Church on Sunday mornings. At the same time that the main Sunday morning worship service is conducted in the sanctuary at 10:30 a.m., children meet on the 2nd level for their own church service!
Children begin the service in the toddler or preschool area (depending on their respective ages) or in the Children's Church room (grades 1-5.) After they help lead worship with the colorful banners, the kids are dismissed to their age-relevant service with Miss Dorothy and the team upstairs. The kids really enjoy participating in praise and worship, object lessons, Bible stories and skits that teach them about the Lord. To add an extra sparkle of excitement and enthusiasm, gospel stories are often acted out by puppets, clowns, or other special characters. The kids love it! And the great reward is that they learn about God, and have fun doing it! Each year, dozens of children find a personal relationship with Christ. Once a month, on the last Sunday, the entire church gathers in the sanctuary for "Family Sunday," giving the children's workers a much-deserved break. Marie shares a special kids message each month.
Mid-Week Service & Bible Study
Each Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m., everyone enjoys the mid-week Bible study and a half hour of prayer at the church. This is usually a more informal time where there is teaching on a topic of interest to believers in Christ. Questions or testimonies are often invited from the congregation.
At the same time that the adults are meeting in the sanctuary, our "ONE" youth group and children’s groups also meet upstairs.
Ensemble
Each Thursday night members of the ensemble of First Assembly of God gather to work on special music for various services.
The ensemble is a family in and of themselves. They care for one another and gather to hone their talents for the Lord. Lynn Gonzalez directs this group. They sing music that ranges from contemporary to classic, gospel to a capella. If you love to sing, and would like to become part of the ensemble, contact Lynn Gonzalez.
Boys' Group & Girls' Group
The Boys Group is for ages 5 years through 6th grade. The focus of the organization is to instill Christian character and leadership qualities, while providing fun and adventurous activities. Besides times of Bible study and spiritual devotions, the boys enjoy games. Everything that is done is with the clear distinction of a Christian ministry, directing young men and boys toward the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Girls' Group is for ages 5 years through 6th grade. The girls are taught Christian principals that emphasize how to develop and maintain a Christlike character.
There is also a very special group for boys and girls ages 3 and 4.
We use the Bible, activites, and other motivations to teach the boys and girls God's Word. Once a month we have a game or movie night. During the summer months we have a special program that includes outdoor and indoor sports, crafts, and special outings along with Bible lessons that are geared toward teaching the children that everyone can be a winner.
The Boys' and Girls' Groups have their meetings during Wednesday, mid-week services at 7:00 p.m. Parents can bring their kids to these great groups and stay for the mid-week service and adult Bible study, which concludes simultaneously with the youth ministries, usually by 8:30 p.m.
Nursery and Child Care
For the convenience of parents with infants, a fully staffed nursery is provided for Sunday morning services. The nursery is kept clean and safe, as well as well-stocked. Its location is at the rear of the main foyer. Parents are encouraged to take advantage of the nursery to care for fussy kids or to take care of feeding and diapering needs. There is a separate nursing mothers' room available. Check with the nursery staff for its location.
